Caring for Hearing Aids

The audiologist will also instruct you on how to care for your hearing aids. Here are some guidelines:

  • The hearing aids should be cleaned daily using hearing aid cleaner. You may purchase hearing aid cleaner from our office.
  • Avoid getting the hearing aids wet. Treat it like a non-waterproof watch.
  • Never use any alcohol on the hearing aids
  • Earwax and moisture are the 2 greatest causes of hearing aid failure. The audiologist will instruct you in how to avoid both.

Always call the audiologist if you have any questions or problems with your hearing aids. It may take a few visits to get it just right. It may also take a few weeks to adjust to your new hearing aids. Sometimes it's best to avoid noisy places in the beginning. Start with quieter conversations with one or two people and work up to louder environments. With all closed mold hearing aids, your own voice will sound different to you, and will take some time to get adjusted.

Repairs

With any hearing aids purchased from Advanced ENT, all repairs are done at no charge while your hearing aid is still under warranty. Minor in-office procedures such as filter and tubing changes and minor repairs are done at no charge whether in or out of warranty. This does not apply to thin tube and dome replacement (GN Air or similar), in which case there is a small charge.

Extension and renewal of a manufacturer’s warranties are available which generally include loss and damage protection.
