Batteries & Accessories for Hearing Aids

Batteries

All hearing aids run on batteries. You will need to replace batteries about once every 5-14 days depending on the number of hours you use the aids per day and the battery size. Batteries may be purchased at Advanced ENT. Typical battery sizes that are available include size 10, 13, 312, and 675. We stock most sizes of batteries for your hearing aids, which are available in 8 packs or by the carton (40 batteries). Batteries are less expensive when purchased by the carton. If you wish to purchase batteries, you may stop in to the office, call, or download the battery order form and we will mail them to your home.

Oto-Ease

Oto-Ease

Oto-Ease is a lubricant used to make insertion of new hearing aids easier. It is an economical, clear lotion spread over the portion of the hearing aid that contacts the ear.

Directional Microphones

These devices have been around for many years and help reduce background noise coming from the back and sides. So if you are seated in a restaurant, the best place to be is with your back to the main part of the restaurant and your companion facing you. Depending upon the quality of the directional system, you should be able to hear your companion more clearly. Today, most directional microphone systems work automatically. Directional Microphones can be added as an extra cost option to most hearing aids.

Companion Microphone

Companion Microphone

A variation of the FM system is called a Companion Microphone which allows up to 3 "talkers" to be heard simultaneously, each wearing his/her own small wireless microphone. The system works with most hearing aids having a telecoil (T-Coil). Ask us for more information.

FM wireless microphone/receiver systems

For places where directional microphones are not effective, FM systems may be the answer. These consist of a small wireless microphone worn by the “talker”. The “listener” (hearing aid wearer) wears a tiny receiver attached to a behind the ear (BTE) hearing aid. Sound quality is very good in noisy environments, plus the system can be used when hearing at a distance is a problem (lectures, houses of worship).

Dry and Store Global

Dry and Store Global

This is a compact device used to remove moisture from your hearing aid. Moisture is one of the major reasons for hearing aid failure. Moisture causes deterioration of the receiver (loudspeaker). This device circulates warm air across the hearing aid. The moisture-laden air then travels over a desiccant (drying agent) that removes the harmful moisture. The hearing aid can be placed in the dryer overnight; it will automatically shut off after 8 hours. An ultraviolet light kills 99% of germs on the hearing aid and the ear mold in the first 3 minutes of operation.

Audiologist’s Choice Hearing Aid Cleaner

Audiologist’s Choice Hearing Aid Cleaner

The portion of the hearing aid that goes in the ear must be cleaned on a daily basis to remove skin oils, bacteria and fungus that grow in the warm, moist environment of the ear canal. Audiologist’s Choice Hearing Aid Cleaner is specially designed to remove this material and keep the aid sanitary. Failure to clean your hearing aid or ear mold can lead to itchy ears, and/or ear infection.
